From Fabric to Finished Dress: How Danellys Creates Made-to-Order Linen Clothing

A dress hanging in a warehouse and a dress created after you order it may look similar on a screen. The story behind them is very different.

At Danellys, we create our linen clothing to order rather than producing large batches and storing them until someone buys them. For us, this approach is about more than production. It gives us the opportunity to pay closer attention to fit, measurements, color, and the small details that make a garment feel more personal.

It is a slower process than mass production, but that is exactly why we value it.

Here is a look inside the journey from fabric to finished garment.

Step 1: We Start With the Linen

Before there is a dress, blouse, skirt, or pair of trousers, there is the fabric.

Linen is made from flax and has long been valued for its breathable feel, natural texture, strength, and ability to become softer with wear. These qualities are a major reason we use linen throughout many of our collections.

The fabric also needs to work with the design. A flowing maxi dress should move differently from structured trousers or an oversized tunic, so we always think about how the material and silhouette will work together.

If you are searching fororganic women's clothing, it is worth knowing that natural linen and certified organic fabric are not automatically the same thing. We believe in clear product information, so we recommend checking the fiber composition and available details whenever organic certification is important to you.

Step 2: You Choose the Design, Color, and Fit

Once you find a design you love, the garment starts to become yours.

Many of our linen pieces are available in several colors, so you can choose the version that fits your wardrobe best. Depending on the design, we can also work with standard sizing or custom measurements.

This is one of the things we value most aboutcustom made clothing.

You are not always limited to wearing a design exactly as it appears in the photos. Depending on the garment, requests may include a different length, longer or shorter sleeves, a looser or closer fit, or changes to selected design details.

Our goal is to keep the character of the original piece while making it work better for the person who will actually wear it.

Step 3: Your Measurements Help Us Refine the Fit

Standard sizing is useful, but we know that no two bodies are exactly the same.

Two women who both wear a medium can have completely different proportions. One may need more room through the hips, another may prefer a shorter hem, while someone else may need extra length through the torso.

That is why measurements matter.

When custom sizing is requested, we use measurements such as bust, waist, and hips to help us understand your proportions more accurately.

This is wherewomen's tailored clothing becomes especially valuable. Instead of asking your body to fit perfectly into a standard size chart, we can use your measurements to make the garment more suitable for you.

A simple tip from us: when measuring yourself, use a soft measuring tape and keep it comfortably against the body without pulling it tight. Accurate measurements give us much better information to work with.

Step 4: We Prepare the Garment for Cutting

Once the order details are confirmed, we move into production.

Because our pieces are made to order, we do not simply pull a finished garment from a large warehouse stock. We begin creating the piece after the order is placed.

At this stage, the design, size, measurements, and requested adjustments guide the preparation of the garment.

Cutting is one of those parts of clothing production that customers rarely see, but it can make a major difference to the final fit.

A few centimeters can change where the waist sits, how a skirt falls, or whether an oversized silhouette feels intentionally relaxed rather than simply too large.

That is why we take this stage seriously.

Step 5: We Turn the Fabric Into a Garment

This is the moment when individual pieces of linen start to become the clothing you ordered.

Seams come together. Sleeves, waistlines, pockets, hems, closures, and design details gradually take their final form.

For us,handmade clothing for women is not about producing the greatest possible number of garments in the shortest possible time.

It is about working on the individual piece that has actually been ordered.

This approach gives us more control over the process and allows us to pay attention to details that can easily disappear in large-scale production.

Step 6: We Finish the Details

A garment is not finished just because the main seams are complete.

The final details matter just as much.

We check the hems, closures, pockets, proportions, and overall finish. If the order includes custom measurements or requested adjustments, we make sure those details are reflected in the finished piece.

This stage is especially important because small details can completely change the way a garment feels once you put it on.

Our aim is simple: the finished piece should still look like the design you chose, while feeling much more personal when you wear it.

Step 7: Then Your Garment Is Ready to Travel to You

Made-to-order clothing requires a little more patience than ready-to-ship fashion.

That waiting time is part of the process.

Your garment is being created because you chose it. It has not been sitting in a warehouse for months waiting for someone to buy it.

Processing times can vary depending on the design and season, and estimated arrival information is provided for individual pieces. Rush processing may also be available for some orders when you need your garment sooner.

We know waiting is not always easy, but we believe there is value in knowing that something is being made specifically after you place your order.

Why We Believe Made-to-Order Clothing Is Worth the Wait

For us, slow fashion is not simply about owning fewer clothes.

It is also about changing the way clothing is produced.

Instead of making large quantities first and hoping they eventually find a buyer, we begin with an actual order. This helps us avoid unnecessary production and lets us focus more closely on the craftsmanship behind each garment.

It also gives you more control.

You can think about the fit you prefer. You can provide your measurements. Depending on the piece, you can request changes. And you can choose a garment knowing that its production begins because you selected it.

Whether you are looking forcustom made clothing, women's tailored clothing, natural linen pieces, or simply an alternative to mass-produced fashion, we believe the value is found in the process as much as in the finished garment.

From the first choice of design and measurements to the final seam, every stage has a purpose.

And when your linen piece finally arrives, you are not simply opening a package containing something taken from a shelf.

You are opening a garment we created for your order.
